272 police constables pass out in Jigawa, CP warns against misconduct, abuse of power

The Nigerian Police Force, NPF, have reminded officers that their uniform is a symbol of trust, authority, and responsibility, emphasizing that citizens look up to them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

State Commissioner of Police CP Dahiru Muhammad disclosed this while addressing a cohort of 272 newly passed-out police constables at the State Headquarters in Dutse.

The Commissioner commended the newly passed-out constables for successfully completing their rigorous training and officially joining the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force.

According to him, “This achievement emphasizes that your successful passing-out marks the beginning of a life dedicated to selfless service, discipline, and unwavering commitment to public safety.”

“You are now ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force. Your uniform is not just an attire; it is a symbol of trust, authority, and responsibility. The people of Jigawa State and indeed, Nigeria, look up to you to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.”

He warned the new officers to conduct themselves in accordance with the core values of the Force: discipline, loyalty, courage, and respect for human rights. The commissioner reminded the constables of the critical role they play in restoring public confidence and enhancing security across communities.

The commissioner also warned against any acts of misconduct or abuse of power, stating that the command under his watch has zero tolerance for compromise of cases, corrupt practices, and unprofessional behavior.

“Your actions on the field will reflect on the entire institution. You must resist any temptation to compromise your values. This uniform must never be used to intimidate, harass, or extort the people you are sworn to protect,” the CP said.
