David Armstrong, also known as Donovan Michaels, is pushing back against what he describes as an inadequate spousal support offer from media mogul David Geffen, claiming the billionaire is attempting to aggressively limit both temporary and permanent support. In new court filings on Thursday, Armstrong argued that Geffens proposed $50,000 monthly payment does not reflect the standard of living they shared during their marriage. According to Armstrong, Geffen spent over $3 million per month on living expenses while they were together, and he maintains that he has a right to continue living at that level. Armstrong also rejected Geffens request that support last only a few more months. He pointed to Geffens vast wealth, estimated at $8.9 billion by Forbes, and insisted the 82-year-old remains an active venture capitalist, high-level investor, and power broker, contrary to Geffens claims that he is retired. His filing also referenced alleged physical, emotional, and psychological harm, claiming Geffen solicited Donovan when he was a vulnerable young foster care graduate. Those claims have not been litigated in this divorce. Geffens legal team, led by attorney Laura Wasser, pushed back, saying the billionaire has already paid Armstrong $400,000 since their separation and is allowing him to live rent-free in a New York City apartment costing $15,000 a month. They argued that Geffen is working to settle the divorce, while accusing Armstrong of attempting to delay the process. Geffen filed for divorce in August after less than two years of marriage. The split drew attention due to the absence of a prenuptial agreement.
