Thief posing as delivery person steals $11M in cryptocurrency in San Francisco

An armed thief, disguised as a delivery worker, invaded a San Francisco home over the weekend, tied up the homeowner, and stole the victim’s cellphone, laptop, and an astonishing $11 million worth of cryptocurrency. The brazen heist took place at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Saturday November 22, in the city’s Mission Dolores neighborhood. The perpetrator, posing as a courier, quickly dropped the act by brandishing a gun and restraining the victim with duct tape, according to the police report. At this time, it is unclear if the victim sustained any injuries, and the San Francisco Police Department has not released additional details about the suspect or if any arrests have been made following the incident.This high-value robbery highlights a growing and alarming trend: a rise in violent kidnappings and attempted robberies specifically targeting cryptocurrency investors. The appeal for criminals is clear: digital currency is significantly harder to trace than physical dollars and is considerably easier for thieves to launder. This recent incident mirrors several other high-profile cases across the country.
