College football player charged with attempted murd£r for stabbing teammates

The University of Alabama at Birmingham football player accused of st@bbing two teammates inside a team facility has been charged with attempted murdr. Daniel Israel Mincey allegedly stabbed fellow teammates JaSire Peterson and Joshua Underwood with a knife just after 10 a.m. at the on-campus football operations building, AL.com reported, citing court records filed Monday. The 20-year-old redshirt freshman was charged with attempted murder for the attack on Peterson and aggravated assault on Underwood, the outlet reported. He was arrested hours after the attack. Mincey is being held at the Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham on a $90,000 bond, according to records viewed by The Post. Officials did not reveal a motive behind Saturdays st@bbings. Mincey, a redshirt freshman from Florida, played in one game for Kentucky in 2024 before transferring to UAB for the 2025 season. The school has since scrubbed Minceys name from its online roster. Peterson, a redshirt freshman from Union City, New Jersey, and Underwood, a freshman from Fultondale, Alabama, were released from the hospital on Monday, Interim Head Coach Alex Mortensen told reporters at a press conference. Mortensen revealed he sat with Peterson and Underwood after they were released and asked for their privacy. He did not reveal the condition of the injured players. They appreciate everyones thoughts and prayers, Mortensen said. Whats most important to us is the well-being of our student-athletes, of our players. We are going to make sure they have every opportunity this week to get the counseling services that they need. UAB hosted South Florida at Protective Stadium Saturday, losing its Senior Day matchup 48-18. Saturday was a very sad day for UAB football, athletic director Mark Ingram said. We recognized the gravity of what happened Saturday morning and did very seriously consider not playing the game, he said. That was not an easy decision. School officials and players elected to play the game only after learning that both Peterson and Underwood were in stable condition. The team honored its several seniors before the game, with some electing to sit out following the st@bbing. UAB, 3-8, closes its season against Tulsa on Saturday in Oklahoma. The post College football player charged with attempted murdr for stabbing teammates appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
