Kourtney Kardashian says she had “no idea what to do” as a first-time mum at 30 — despite being the first Kardashian to have kids

Kourtney Kardashian Barker has opened up about becoming a mum at 30, revealing she felt completely unprepared when she welcomed her first child, Mason, with Scott Disick back in 2009. On the latest episode of The Kardashians, the 46-year-old admitted she didnt read any parenting books at the time and simply relied on instinct. Nobody told me what to do. I didnt read any books, she said. My maternal instinct led me straight into attachment parenting. She later became more intentional with the style when expecting her daughter Penelope, adding that she finally read the attachment-parenting book before baby number two. Kourtney also said she kept working through her first pregnancy because she didnt realise not working was even an option. Now I have the choice, she added. And Im grateful I can choose what I connect to. The reality star spoke about parenting after hosting a seminar with parenting author Erica Komisar at her $8.5M home in the exclusive Estates at the Oaks. Kourtney and Scott share Mason, 15; Penelope, 13; and Reign, 10. Their relationship ended in 2015 after Scott was spotted with stylist Chlo Bartoli, and the pair have continued to clash over how to raise their children especially their schooling. Kourtney previously questioned the entire school system on her sister Khlos podcast, saying, Why do kids even go to school? and calling it dated. Scott reportedly found her comments irresponsible and strongly disagreed, insisting school is essential and claiming he would never allow his kids to skip it. Ironically, Scott dropped out of school as a teen, while Kourtney holds a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Arizona. Scott also recently admitted he almost moved to New York to be closer to his girlfriend until Mason told him he couldnt leave. I was getting prepared, he said on The Kardashians. But theres no way I could actually do it. Kourtney is now married to Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, and they welcomed their son Rocky two years ago.
