Billy Ray Cyrus has spoken out for the first time since his daughter Miley Cyrus confirmed shes engaged to musician Maxx Morando. The country star shared his reaction on Instagram, one day after Miley stepped out on the red carpet in Los Angeles with a sparkling engagement ring on her finger, Daily Mail reported. This comes not long after the pair reconciled following a long, messy family rift that lasted years. Billy Ray posted a throwback photo of himself, a young Miley and her godmother Dolly Parton, writing:No wonder you turned out so special. You have the greatest godmother in the world. He also reposted photos of Miley and Maxx from the movie premiere, along with a picture from Mileys birthday dinner where she displayed the ring. In another caption, he wrote how happy he is that the couple found each other, signing off with love Dad. Their relationship has been strained for a while. Miley previously revealed that she reached out to her father earlier this year with a peace offering a song she wrote for his birthday. She said the track moved him to tears, something she hadnt witnessed since the death of his father. The emotional exchange helped ease the tension that began after Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus 2022 divorce, which caused a split within the family.
