The Mask actor Peter Greene found de@d at 60 inside his NYC apartment

Peter Greene, the American actor known for playing villains and criminals, in Nineties classics including Pulp Fiction and The Mask, has d!ed at the age of 60. The actor was found unresponsive in his New York apartment, his manager confirmed, with a cause of de@th to be determined. Peter’s longtime manager, Gregg Edwards, confirmed the tragic news to The New York Post. Police told the outlet that his body was found unresponsive inside his residence at around 3:25 p.m’. He was pronounced de@d at the scene. A neighbour has now said that Peter’s body was discovered face down on the floor. They told the New York Daily News: ‘Peter was lying on the floor, facedown, facial injury, blood everywhere’ The publication has also reported that a handwritten note was found on the door to Peter’s apartment. It reportedly said ‘I’m still a Westie,’ which appears to be a reference to the Irish-American gang who had operated out of Hell’s Kitchen between from 1970. Peter’s cause of de@th has yet to be determined, with an autopsy due to be carried out, though police do not suspect foul play.  His manager Gregg said he was told music had been playing in the star’s apartment for more than 24 hours, prompting a wellness check, according to the New York Daily News. The publication was first to break the story about his passing. He added that he had spoken with Greene earlier this week. Greene won the Best Actor prize at the 1994 Taormina International Film Festival for his star-making role in Lodge Kerrigans Clean, Shaven, in which he played a man with schizophrenia. He later parlayed his success into villain roles in numerous films, including The Mask, where he played mafia kingpin Dorian Tyrell, and The Usual Suspects and Under Siege 2. But it was Pulp Fiction that loomed largest, with Greene playing Zed in the 1994 Quentin Tarantino classic, a security guard who holds captive characters Butch and Marcellus, played by Bruce Willis and Ving Rhames. Born in Montclair, New Jersey, Peter ran away at 15 and lived on the streets of New York City. He later turned to drug use and eventually dealing, he told Premiere magazine in 1996.  He didn’t begin acting until his mid-20s and landed several film and television roles in the early 1990s. After a suicide attempt in March 1996, he sought treatment for his addictions, according to the profile. In 2007, Peter was arrested for possessing crack cocaine, according to the New York Daily News. With close to 95 acting credits, Greene’s roles also included Laws of Gravity (1992), Clean, Shaven (1993), Blue Streak (1999), and Training Day (2001). He is survived by a sister and a brother.The post The Maskactor Peter Greene found de@d at 60 inside his NYC apartment appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
