Many of the victims of the Crans-Montana blaze, which broke out in a bar in the early hours of New Years Day, were young people full of plans, hope and dreams, according to the president of the Swiss Confederation, Guy Parmelin. At least 40 people d!ed, and another 115 people suffered injuries after a fire tore through a bar at a luxury Alpine ski resort in Switzerland shortly after midnight on Thursday. In a statement, the Italian Golf Federation said it mourned the death of a young athlete who embodied passion and authentic values”. Authorities warned that identification of other victims could take days due to the severe nature of the burns. Following a visit to the scene of the incident on Friday, Italy’s foreign minster Antonio Tajani called the safety situation of the Swiss ski resort bar terrible and said the use of small fireworks in the car was irresponsible. The blast occurred at around 1.30am at the Le Constellation, a bar popular with tourists in the Valais region of southwestern Switzerland. While officials said it was too early to determine the fire’s cause, investigators have already ruled out that it could have been an attack.
