UK launches manhunt for prisoner who failed to return to open jail after ‘approved visit’

The public has been warned not to approach a prisoner who failed to return to HMP Castle Huntly following an approved visit. James Fitzpatrick, 36, was reported missing on Tuesday, December 30, after he did not return to the open prison near Dundee as required. Police say he was last seen at around 11.20am on Monday, December 29, and may have boarded a bus travelling towards Ardrossan. Fitzpatrick is described as white, about 5ft 8in tall, with a stocky build and short brown hair. He is known to have connections in Ayrshire. Officers say extensive inquiries and searches are ongoing to locate him.
