US federal law enforcement officers in Minneapolis shot an undocumented migrant from Venezuela during a targeted operation, authorities said, marking the second federal-involved shooting in the city in one week after the death of Renee Good. According to Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, federal officers pulled over the man on Wednesday night as part of an operation in Minneapolis. Officials said the man fled in a vehicle, later crashing into a parked car, before running on foot. One federal officer pursued him and a struggle ensued. DHS said two other individuals came out of a nearby building and allegedly attacked the officer with a snow shovel and broom stick. McLaughlin said the officer, fearing for his life, drew his firearm and shot the Venezuelan man in the leg. Both the officer and the injured man were transported to a hospital. DHS said the two other individuals retreated into the building and briefly barricaded themselves before being taken into custody. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will carry out an independent investigation into the shooting. The latest incident occurred days after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent fatally sh00t and k!lled Renee Good during a separate enforcement operation in Minneapolis. Federal officials have defended that shooting as self-defense, while Minnesota state authorities have accused the ICE agent of murder. The post US federal officer sh00ts undocumented migrant in Minneapolis appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
