Late Akwa Ibom PDP chieftain’s son who was accused of k!lling his father, charged with attempted homicide after assault of pregnant woman in US

A 42-year-old Nigerian man, Odudu Ukpanah, faces an attempted homicide charge after allegedly assaulting a pregnant victim twice during an attack in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, United States.  LIB reported that Odudu, the only son of late PDP chieftain in Akwa Ibom State, Engr. Albert Jimmy Ukpanah, who was falsely accused of k!lling his father, but was discharged and acquitted in June 2, 2016 by the High Court of Akwa Ibom State, presided over by Justice Ezekiel. The late politician was assassinated on Wednesday, 12 March, 2014 at his residence. The latest incident occurred in November 2025 but only came to light on Saturday, January 17, 2026, when Akwa Ibom indigenes, Odudu’s former schoolmates disclosed it. Police charged Odudu Ukpanah with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, strangulation, and aggravated assault of an unborn child for the November 7, 2025 attack at the Seven Gables Apartments. Shortly before noon that day, the department said officers found a woman with severe head wounds going in and out of consciousness in the buildings stairwell. Police said witnesses reported Ukpanah choked and slammed the victim, who is three months pregnant, to the ground before fleeing when witnesses appeared.
