X users have shared sobering experiences and reflections on the dangers of migrating through Libya to Europe, following conversations around new anti-immigration policies. One user narrated a discussion where many people were expressing frustration and planning to leave their current country. According to the post, a man who had been quiet throughout the conversation later asked if anyone present had ever travelled from Libya to Europe or experienced extreme thirst to the point of drinking their own urine. His questions reportedly shifted the mood from complaints to silence. The man allegedly explained that after surviving such conditions, he now sees his current life as a second chance and has no intention of leaving, despite the challenges. In response, other X users shared their own experiences of the same route. One said he witnessed people die from sunstroke in the desert and claimed that those who survived often carried deep trauma from what they saw and endured along the way. Another contributor added that the route is brutal for everyone, regardless of gender, and suggested that many who passed through Libya by road may be dealing with untreated psychological trauma.
