NSCDC intercepts truck with vandalised railway tracks in Bauchi, arrests five suspects

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Bauchi State Command, has intercepted a truck carrying 80 pieces of vandalised railway tracks and 5 pieces of slippers and arrested five suspects in connection with the crime.   The command’s spokesperson, Saminu Yusuf, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, January 23, 2026, said the interception followed credible intelligence.   According to Yusuf, NSCDC operatives on patrol along the MiriJos Road on January 12, 2026, around Gital town in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, stopped a long vehicle truck with registration number MDB 360 XA.  “At the receipt of intelligence on the 12th January, 2026 at about 0300hrs around Gital town of Tafawa Balewa local government area, NSCDC personnel on patrol along Miri, Jos road intercepted a Dangote truck with a registration number MDB 360 XA loaded with vandalised railway track and slippers covered with bags of chicken feeds, as disguise heading to Eastern part of Nigeria, the statement read. “Investigations identified Mr. John as the Owner/Masterminder of Intercepted Railway track and Auwal the truck driver were at large but efforts are at top gear to get them arrested to face the full wrath of the law.  Five suspects arrested in connection to the crime are: Adam Kolo ‘male’ 42yrs, Borno State, Samuel Musa ‘male’ 44yrs, Yobe State, Solomon Jankaro ‘male’ 40yrs, Niger State, Emmanuel Collins ‘male’ 26yrs, Enugu State and Sunday David ‘male’ 20yrs, Enugu State. Exhibits recovered include: 80 pieces of vandalized railway track and 5 pieces of slippers, bags of chicken feed, one long vehicle truck, Lexus RX 330 with registration number BWR 60 DN.  The command also arrested one Nura Abdullahi of Wuntin Dada area Bauchi, Bauchi State was arrested for motorcycle theft on 14th January 2026, around 0200hrs. During the preliminary investigation the suspect confessed to having been purchasing stolen motorcycles from two (2) suspects based in Bauchi State.  He further admitted to selling eight motorcycles to one Mr. Abdul Abdullahi Magaji at Gindiri, Mangu LGA, Plateau State, estimated to be valued at about N2,020,000.000.(2million Naira). Effort is at top gear to apprehend other members of the syndicate and recover the exhibits. The state commandant NSCDC Bauchi State Command, Commandant Oloyede Nelson Oyerinde while addressing the gentlemen of the press, commended the effort of his personnel for their unwavering commitment towards safeguarding national infrastructures. He reiterated that NSCDC Bauchi state command resolved to get rid of vandals and other forms of crime in the state.
