“I Won’t Follow Yusuf to APC” — Gov’s Aide Quits, Declares Loyalty to Kwankwaso

The Special Adviser on Political Matters, Sunusi Kwankwaso, has stepped down from his position after his principal’s reported move away from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

His decision was made public on Friday through a video message circulated on Facebook, which was sighted by Politics Nigeria.

Sunusi made it clear that he would not be part of any political journey that takes the governor to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He declared firm loyalty to the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

In the video, the former adviser explained that he had already prepared a resignation letter immediately after learning of Governor Yusuf’s planned defection. However, he said efforts to submit the letter through official government channels failed.

According to him, the Office of the Secretary to the State Government also refused to receive the letter. He said this forced him to formally announce his resignation to the public through a recorded statement.

Sunusi said his decision was based on political principle and long-standing commitment to the Kwankwasiyya ideology. He stressed that he could not continue to serve in an administration that no longer aligns with that political path.

He stated, “After learning that the governor had left the NNPP and was expected to move to the APC, I tendered my resignation, but it was not received.

“This video is to officially notify the public that I have resigned from my role as a political adviser. I am grateful for the chance to serve and for the work we carried out together over the last two years.

“I will not abandon Kwankwaso or the Kwankwasiyya movement. My loyalty remains with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and I have no intention of joining the APC.”

However, Sunusi thanked the state government for the opportunity to serve and acknowledged the political experience gained during his time in office.

He said his future political activities would remain tied to Kwankwaso and his supporters across Kano State.
