‘I’m not perfect’ – Ex-Speaker Dogara on accepting to be Tinubu’s running mate in 2027

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has responded to speculation that he may accept to serve as President Bola Tinubus running mate in the 2027 general election. Dogara said leadership and nation-building have never depended on perfect individuals, noting that history shows societies were built and sustained by ordinary people with imperfections. He acknowledged that he is not perfect despite his years of political experience but said he possesses a rich pedigree shaped by public service. The former Speaker made the remarks on Sunday while speaking on Channels Televisions Politics Today, where he was asked about the possibility of emerging as a vice-presidential candidate.According to him, all his achievements are by the grace of God, adding that he remains fully aware of his shortcomings. Dogara referenced his tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives, a role that placed him as the fourth-highest public officer in the country, saying it exposed him to critical aspects of governance. He explained that the position granted him access to knowledge and responsibilities that many people may never encounter. Honestly speaking, I dont know why Im being asked these questions, but let me say something. I dont think Im ever prepared for anything, Dogara said. What I know is that everything I am is by the grace of God. I look at myself as totally unprepared, though I have some rich pedigree. Ive served as Speaker of the House of Representatives, having been number four in this country of about 200 million people. There are certain things I know that a lot of people dont know. But all I know is that Im not perfect. The post Im not perfect Ex-Speaker Dogara on accepting to be Tinubus running mate in 2027 appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
