Police fire teargas at residents protesting demolitions at Lagos assembly (video)

Operatives of the Lagos state police command today January 28, fired teargas canisters at residents who staged a protest at the Lagos state House of Assembly complex over ongoing demolitions in several communities. The protesters had gathered at the assembly complex to express opposition to demolitions affecting Makoko, Owode Onirin, Oworonshoki, Otumara and Baba-Ijora, accusing the state government of carrying out the exercises without adequate consultation, compensation or resettlement plans.  The peaceful protest took a different turn when the teargas canisters were fired. The protesters immediately took to their heels. Some of them sustained injuries while fleeing to safety.     View this post on Instagram           A post shared by Lindaikejiblog (@lindaikejiblogofficial)           The post Police fire teargas at residents protesting demolitions at Lagos assembly (video) appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
