
A 30-year-old man has been confirmed de@D after he entered a well to retrieve a burning gas cylinder in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State. Confirming the incident ti newsmen, the spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, said the Emergency Response Unit received a distress call on Sunday reporting a rescue incident at Saulawa Quarters in Gwarzo town. He mentioned that the Gwarzo Fire Service branch was immediately mobilised after a resident, Alhaji Dan Gwarzo, reported that a man had entered a well during an emergency situation. The victim, identified as Ashahabu Ubale, aged about 30 years, entered the well in an attempt to retrieve a burning gas cylinder that had been thrown inside”Saminu said He explained that during the process, the gas cylinder opened and released gas, displacing oxygen inside the well and causing suffocation. He added that the victim was rescued from the wella nd was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed de@d by doctors on duty. Saminu stated that the body was subsequently handed over to a police officer, PC Muhammad Zakiyyu, of the Gwarzo Police Division. The Kano State Fire Service expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and cautioned residents against entering wells or confined spaces without proper safety measures. It urged members of the public to observe safety precautions around open wells and other hazardous areas, warning that such incidents could be fatal.
