US Lawmaker Again Blames Nigerian Govt Over Rising Killings of Christians

A United States lawmaker has renewed his criticism of the Nigerian government over ongoing killings of Christians in the country.

Representative Riley Moore said the Nigerian authorities must take responsibility for stopping what he described as genocide against Christians.

He made this statement after the recent kidnapping of a Catholic priest in Kaduna State.

The priest, Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye of Holy Trinity Parish, was abducted during an attack on his community. Ten other persons were also taken away by the assailants.

During the incident, three parishioners were killed.

Reacting to the development, Moore expressed concern over what he called repeated violent attacks on Christian communities across Nigeria.

In his words, “Please join me in praying for the safe return of Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye of Holy Trinity Parish in Kaduna who was kidnapped alongside 10 others.

“Three of his parishioners were brutally murdered by radical Islamic jihadists during the attack. The last week has been some of the most horrifically bloody days in recent history for Christians across Nigeria.

“The genocide of Christians must end, and it falls squarely on the Nigerian government’s shoulders to defend its citizens – all of its citizens – and end this violent persecution. Please keep praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ.”

Moore stressed that the duty to protect lives lies with the Nigerian government and the people of the country. He added that failure to act decisively would allow further attacks to continue.
