Brentford striker, Igor Thiago wins the January Premier League Player of the Month Award

Brentford striker, Igor Thiago, has been named Premier League Player of the Month for January. Thiagos five goals in January came in two games: the 24-year-old scored a hat-trick in a 4-2 win at Everton and bagged a brace in a 3-0 victory over Sunderland at Gtech Community Stadium. With his first goal of the game against Sunderland, Thiago equalled the record of 15 scored by a Brazilian in a Premier League campaign, jointly held by three players: Matheus Cunha (in 2024/25 for Wolverhampton Wanderers), Gabriel Martinelli (2022/23 for Arsenal), and Roberto Firmino (2017/18 for Liverpool). Thiagos second goal against the Black Cats took his tally to 16 and moved him ahead as the outright record holder. He saw off competition from Yasin Ayari (Brighton and Hove Albion), Patrick Dorgu (Manchester United), Enzo Fernndez (Chelsea), Junior Kroupi (Bournemouth), Crysencio Summerville (West Ham United), Harry Wilson (Fulham), and Florian Wirtz (Liverpool). After receiving the award, he said: “It’s an amazing feeling. “I’ve asked people at the club how many Brentford players have won this, and they told me that nobody had received this trophy before me. “So I’m really happy to have won it two times now, and I look forward to, hopefully, winning more! “I also want to thank all of the staff and all of the players for their support and for helping me on the pitch.”The post Brentford striker, Igor Thiago wins the January Premier League Player of the Month Award appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
