“Marginalisation of Southeast has been addressed by Tinubu” – Minister Umahi

The Minister of Works, David Umahi has said that President Bola Tinubu has addressed the marginalisation of the South East region.

Umahi made the claim while speaking during a project inspection tour at the Alaoji axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.

The Minister urged the region to ensure it rallies 90 per cent support for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

According to Umahi, the region must learn to exercise patience and be politically strategic as it’s not yet their turn to produce a president.

He further warned that failure to support President Tinubu could have some heavy consequences on the region.

“All the marginalisation we complain about has been addressed by the president. Unless we are not being truthful to ourselves, there is no more marginalisation in the South East.

“You know, giving the Ministry of Works to the South East is no mean feat, because we have never had a Minister of Works. You can see the results and the intention of the president.

“You can see the good heart of the president. So it’s time for payback. You all know the amount of work from Port Harcourt down to Enugu,” Umahi said.

He also noted that the present administration is gunning for the completion of every section of the ongoing projects in the South East.

“When I was Deputy Governor, then Governor for eight years, not a single federal road project came to the state. But today, we can boast of numerous projects ongoing. We can boast of projects worth trillions of naira in the South East, just like in other regions,” he stated.

He also noted that the biggest legacy projects of President Tinubu are located in the region.

In addition, the minister stated that since the assumption of office, Tinubu has favoured the region, especially, in terms of appointments.
