Gunmen abduct Chief Imam’s relatives in Bauchi

Some of the relatives of the Chief Imam of Jamaatu Izalatul Bidiah Wa Ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) in Digare town, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State have been abducted by suspected gunmen.

The relatives, POLITICS NIGERIA gathered were abducted at about 10.30 pm on Saturday, February 14.

According to residents, the gunmen had invaded the community where they shot sporadically in the air before invading the residence of the Chief Imam.

The residents said the attack seems to have been targeted at the Imam who had previously escaped abduction by some gunmen.

They noted that the Imam had escaped before they could gain access to his room.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, Nafiu Habib said the command received a report at about 0941hrs on February 15.

Habib said the report indicated that the incident occurred on February 14 at 2230 hours in Anguwan Madaki, Digare village, Alkaleri LGA.

He noted that the gunmen abducted four female family members of the Imam namely; Rukayya Junaidu, 19; Nafisa Zubairu, 19; Safiya Imam Lata, 18; and Maryam Dadalliya, 30.

In addition, the kidnappers also carted away two black Tecno phones among other items.
