Music executive, Audu Maikori, has called out former Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, for condemning the manner in which security agents almost arrested him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja last week. El-Rufai, who is very critical of the Tinubu administration, had just landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport when some security agents attempted to pick him up. He however refused to go with them, insisting the security agents neither sent him an invitation nor did they have a warrant for his arrest. Some Nigerians including activist, Deji Adeyanju, accused El-Rufai of crying foul when he did the same thing while he served as governor of Kaduna state. In an interview with Arise TV last night, Audu recounted how he was also abducted” by security agents on the order of El-Rufai when he was still governor of Kaduna state. Recall that Maikori was first arrested on February 17, 2017 on charges relating to comments he made about the Southern Kaduna killings. Audu Maikori had posted a series of Tweets about the alleged k!lling of his drivers brother and friends who were supposed students of the Kaduna State College of Education. The story turned out to be false after Audu further investigated the drivers claims with the help of the Nigerian Police, who took the driver into custody. It was discovered that he was simply latching onto his bosss sympathy to defraud him of some money. Audu issued a retraction and apology to the Kaduna State Government and the general public but he was arrested and prosecuted for it. After his release, the Kaduna state government orchestrate his re-arrest. The charges were later dropped against him after a full investigation was concluded. In his interview with Arise, Audu said El-Rufai persecuted him and did not allow the police handle the investigation when he made the wrong tweet..There is a difference between prosecution and persecution. What I went through with El-Rufai and many other persons was persecution. A governor doesn’t sit down and starts to do the job of the police. His job was to report the matter and let the police handle it and the police did. I was in Abuja for a week after my initial arrest on the 17th of February. I went through the process. My driver was flown into Abuja. He confessed that it was a lie. It was all on him. I was let let go. What happened? The next weekend, Mallam was on social media week and he said Oh, Maikori is a liar and we are going to prosecute him. We are trying to link his tweet with the possible de@th of certain people and if we are able to do so, you know the rest. How does a governor do that? The police discharged me” Maikori argued that El-Rufai complaining about his arrest now is hypocritical as he also used his position as governor to arrest people unjustly. He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. I am not saying due process should not be followed because its him. However, it is ironic that the person who oversaw one of the most tyrannical leadership in the history of Kaduna state is the same person complaining about being treated unfairly by the same system that he used” he saidWatch a video of Audu speaking below View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lindaikejiblog (@lindaikejiblogofficial) The post It is ironic that the person who oversaw one of the most tyrannical leadership in the history of Kaduna state is the same person complaining about being treated unfairly – Music executive Audu Maikori tackles El-Rufai appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
