I will deliver Abia to APC in 2027– Orji Uzor Kalu

Senator Orji Kalu has declared his determination to ensure that Abia State is delivered to the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections. Kalu, who represents Abia North Senatorial District on the platform of the APC, made the declaration during his annual New Year visit to the Ebonyi State APC chairman, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, at Ekoli in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. The former Abia State governor said he would deploy all political resources at his disposal to ensure the APC wrests control of Abia from the Labour Party in the next election cycle. I will support President Bola Tinubu and the APC gubernatorial candidate in the elections. I will put my heart on the field to ensure that the APC wins landslide in Abia at the election, Kalu said. He acknowledged his personal relationship with the incumbent governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, but stressed that friendship would not override his political objective. The incumbent governor, Dr Alex Oti, is my friend, but I am not discussing friendship in politics, only the total victory of the APC in the elections, he added. Kalu also called on governors across the country to take responsibility for security in their respective states, rather than leaving the burden solely on President Bola Tinubu. When I was Abia governor, I ensured total security of lives and property. There were no cases of kidnapping or other serious crimes in Abia at a time when other states were battling severe insecurity, he said. He urged state executives to emulate the approach of Francis Nwifuru, whom he praised for maintaining peace and stability in Ebonyi State. Kalu explained that his annual New Year visit to the Ebonyi APC chairman was rooted in a long-standing personal relationship and trust. He is an embodiment of loyalty and someone you can trust with your life. I raised him as a child, even when his father was alive, and he was part of the success stories I recorded as governor, Kalu said. He further recalled that when he introduced Okoro-Emegha to former Ebonyi governor David Umahi, he advised him to remain absolutely loyal to his principal. I told him to give his principal 100 per cent loyalty, and he has carried that same virtue forward to the current governor, he added.
