Popular Cleric Exposes Politicians Covering Bello Turji and Other Terrorists

A popular Nigerian cleric has raised fresh concerns over alleged political protection being given to terrorists, warning that such actions are slowing down efforts to fully restore security across the country.

The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, accused some politicians of shielding notorious bandit leader Bello Turji and other terrorists, making it difficult for security forces to arrest them.

He said this hidden protection is one of the major reasons why some terror figures remain at large despite ongoing military operations.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric stated that while the Federal Government has made visible progress in improving security, the work is far from finished.

He warned that terrorists are not relenting and are already planning new ways to reorganize and strike again if decisive action is not taken.

Primate Ayodele stressed that insecurity in Nigeria goes beyond physical combat and has deep-rooted influences that must be addressed urgently.

According to him, some areas of the country still harbour remnants of terrorist elements that could trigger another wave of violence if ignored.

“Security in Nigeria is spiritual. Borno, Niger, Benue, and Lokoja still have remnants of these terrorists. The likes of Bello Turji can be arrested, but there are people covering them,” he said.

Moreover, Ayodele added that although President Bola Tinubu has made commendable efforts in tackling insecurity, the threat is not completely over. He warned that bandits are regrouping and working towards forming another terror network that could destabilize the country again.

“Tinubu has done so well in terms of security, but those bandits are still planning; they are coming up with another terrorism network. This should be worked on very well,” he added.

In conclusion, the cleric called on the government and security agencies to look beyond surface-level victories and expose those allegedly aiding terrorists from within the political space.
