The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 25-year old medical quack allegedly operating an illegal clinic in Ore, Odigbo Local Government area of the state. The suspect, identified as Idris Nasiru, was apprehended on January 14, 2025, following an intelligence-led operation carried out by the Commands Surveillance Team. The spokesperson of the command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, January 18, 2026, said the arrest forms part of renewed efforts to dismantle criminal networks endangering public health and safety across the state. The Ondo State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough in its sustained fight against medical quackery with the arrest of a suspect operating an illegal clinic at Ore on 14th January, 2025. This arrest forms part of the Commands intensified efforts to dismantle medical criminal networks operating within the State, the statement read. “The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation by Command’s Surveillance Team, during which the suspect, Idris Nasiru (male), aged 25 years, was apprehended. A search of his shop led to the recovery of various medical items, including packs of injection needles, medical drips, bandages, and assorted medical kits. “Subsequently, a thorough search of his residence was conducted with a duly signed search warrant, during which used injection bottles, needles, and syringes were also recovered. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is not a registered medical practitioner, confirming that the clinic was being operated illegally. He has since made useful statements while in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. Commending the operatives for their prompt and professional conduct, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, emphasized the importance of intelligence-led policing in disrupting criminal activities. He reassured residents of the Commands unwavering resolve to leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across the State. CP Lawal also expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his strategic leadership and continuous support through reforms and initiatives aimed at strengthening public safety and addressing medical-related crimes.
