David Beckham has spoken publicly after his son, Brooklyn Beckham, accused him and his wife, Victoria Beckham, of controlling family narratives and trying to interfere in his marriage. Brooklyn made the claims in a series of Instagram Stories, where he said he had been silent for years but decided to speak out after what he described as repeated attempts by his parents and their team to shape press coverage about the family. He alleged that they went to great lengths to place false stories in the media to protect their image and said he no longer wants reconciliation. He also rejected claims that his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, controls him, insisting that he had instead been controlled by his parents for most of his life. Brooklyn said stepping away from his family helped ease long-standing anxiety. He further accused his mother of inappropriate behaviour at his wedding, including allegedly disrupting his first dance with his wife. Following the posts, David Beckham appeared on CNBCs Squawk Box, where he addressed the influence of social media, without directly naming Brooklyn. He spoke about both the benefits and dangers of social media, particularly for young people, and stressed the importance of using it responsibly. The former England captain said he tries to educate his children about social media, noting that making mistakes is part of growing up. He added that parents sometimes need to allow their children to make those mistakes so they can learn from them. Beckham also referenced using his platform for advocacy work, including raising awareness for childrens issues through UNICEF.
