Trump says he ‘won’t use force’ to acquire Greenland but calls for ‘immediate negotiations’

President Trump has said he would not use military force to invade and acquire Greenland. He said this in a bid to ease nerves in Europe after he previously said he would not exclude the option. Delivering a speech to world leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the US President said: “That’s probably the biggest statement I made, because people thought I would use force,” he said of his earlier comments that he wouldn’t “rule out” the military. “I don’t have to use force. I don’t want to use force. I won’t use force.” “All the United States is asking for is a place called Greenland,” he added. Speaking on Nato, Trump says, “We give so much, and we get so little in return.” Trump says the US only gets de@th, disruption, and massive amounts of cash [given] to people who dont appreciate what we do. He added that hes taking about both Nato and Europe generally. Trump then points out Nato chief Mark Rutte in the audience who this morning was complimentary about Trumps pressure to raise military spending among Nato members. Trump then appears to state that he wont use force to obtain Greenland. Trump said: “We wont get anything unless I use excessive strength and force, when we would be unstoppable. “I wont use force.” Trump then claims that the US has got nothing out of Nato, apart from protecting Europe from Russia. Trump then goes on to repeats his desire to acquire Greenland. Ian Bremmer, president of the Eurasia Group, says theres nothing new in Donald Trumps speech to Davos apart from the pledge not to use force against Greenland- which he says was never on the table anyway.The post Trump says he wont use force to acquire Greenland but calls for immediate negotiations appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
