JUST IN: Shettima Returns to Nigeria After Trips to Guinea-Conakry, Switzerland

Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Nigeria following a week-long diplomatic and economic mission to Guinea-Conakry and Switzerland.

Shettima arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Saturday after representing President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of Guinea’s President, Mamadi Doumbouya.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the vice president also led Nigeria’s delegation to the 56th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos.

According to Shettima, the trip underscored Nigeria’s renewed commitment to regional solidarity in West Africa and its drive to reposition the economy under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

A highlight of his visit to Davos was the commissioning of Nigeria House, the country’s first-ever sovereign pavilion on the Davos Promenade.

The pavilion is intended as a permanent investment hub, showcasing opportunities in solid minerals, agriculture, and the digital economy.

Shettima also participated in the Accra Reset Initiative, alongside former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, and Finance Minister Wale Edun.

The initiative focuses on promoting African industrialisation driven by domestic capital and value chains, rather than relying on foreign aid.
