2027: Time Has Come to Play Politics – Wike Declares, Backs Tinubu’s Reelection

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Friday declared that “politics has started,” adding that the time for political mobilisation has come.

He made the statement during the inauguration of Senatorial and Local Government Area (LGA) Coordinators of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Wike commended the coordinators and members of the state Renewed Hope Ambassadors for their dedication to the reelection of President Bola Tinubu.

Addressing the gathering, Wike said, “Let me thank our leaders here, the coordinators at the local government and electoral district levels, the state and national assembly members, and the elders council—for your support.

“Support is not shown by words alone; you have demonstrated real commitment. Even without your governor present, you continue to back Mr President and are willing to do everything possible to ensure his success in 2027.”

He added, “You have managed with the resources available to you, contributing in ways that will be noticed.

“I know that wherever Mr. President is today, he is observing your programme to identify those truly committed to the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.”

Wike praised the group’s dedication, stating that their efforts were motivated by commitment rather than financial gain, “You don’t need to see Nigerian Naira. All that is required is dedication, and you have shown it.

“What you have done today may attract envy and criticism, but remain focused and continue to support Mr. President.”

He concluded by reminding the supporters of his earlier message at a Thanksgiving event:
“I told you then that by January, we would start to play politics. Now, the time has come, and we have begun the politics.”
