JUST IN: Gov Nwifuru Orders Probe into Deadly Terrorists Attack on Ebonyi Community

Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has ordered security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the recent attack on Oso Edda community in Edda Local Government Area of the state.

The governor described the incident, which resulted in loss of lives and destruction of property, as barbaric and a gross violation of the sanctity of human life.

“I received with shock the news of the attack on Oso Edda, which claimed lives and led to the destruction of property.

“This act of callousness is a direct affront to our resolve to restore lasting peace in our communities, and it will not be tolerated,” Nwifuru said.

He stressed that the protection of lives and property remains the highest priority of his administration, assuring residents that every necessary step would be taken to uncover the circumstances surrounding the attack.

“As a government, the security of our people and their property is paramount, and we will leave no stone unturned to ensure that justice is served,” the governor added.

Nwifuru disclosed that the state government is working closely with law enforcement agencies to track down those responsible and bring them to justice. He also appealed to residents of the affected community to remain calm and refrain from any form of retaliation.

The governor further directed security operatives to immediately mobilise to the area to prevent further attacks and maintain peace.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones and property in this tragic incident. Be assured that they will not be abandoned,” he said.

The directive was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor, and made available to journalists in Abakaliki.

The governor also called on communities across the state to embrace peaceful coexistence, noting that sustainable development cannot thrive in an environment marked by violence and destruction.
