Kwankwaso Supporters Propose Peter Obi–Kwankwaso Ticket for 2027 Elections

Supporters of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso have unveiled a proposal for a joint presidential ticket involving Peter Obi and Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The move is being promoted as a strategy to build a broad political coalition that cuts across regional and party lines.

The supporters believe such an alliance can challenge the current political order and respond to growing public dissatisfaction in the country.

Speaking in Kano on Friday, Abba Sadauki Gwale, who represented the Kwankwaso support groups, said the idea reflects the collective wish of loyalists to back a ticket that can address Nigeria’s worsening problems.

He said the Obi–Kwankwaso ticket could emerge on any political platform, adding that political loyalty should not stand in the way of a united front for national progress.

According to Gwale, recent political developments show that many Nigerians are searching for alternatives to the ruling establishment. He described the proposed alliance as a response to this shift in public mood.

“If the duo gets a chance in the upcoming election, Nigeria will be a better place. We are tired of insecurity, hunger and starvation,” he said.

Gwale explained that the strength of the proposal lies in the regional influence of both politicians. He said Peter Obi commands wide support in the South, while Kwankwaso maintains a strong political base in the North, especially in Kano and neighbouring states.

He noted that combining both support bases could create a nationwide structure capable of competing effectively in the 2027 election.

The group also said the alliance is focused on removing the ruling All Progressives Congress from power and ending what it described as years of failed leadership under President Bola Tinubu.

Gwale stressed that both Obi and Kwankwaso have continued to promote policies centred on economic reform, youth empowerment and the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.

He added that their message has gained traction among citizens frustrated by rising food prices, insecurity and unemployment.

“As 2027 approaches, all eyes are on the Obi–Kwankwaso alliance to see how it will translate this momentum into votes,” Gwale said.

He also dismissed claims that Kwankwaso was negotiating to defect to the APC. He described such reports as misleading and politically motivated.

According to him, Kwankwaso’s decisions are guided by the wishes of his supporters across the country and not by personal ambition.

Gwale further stated that despite recent political changes in Kano State, Kwankwaso still enjoys massive grassroots backing and remains a key political figure in the North.
