“Tinubu has a lot of sense” – Datti Baba-Ahmed reveals ADC’s major challenges

The 2023 vice presidential candidate for the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed has described President Bola Tinubu as an individual with “a lot of sense”.

Datti-Ahmed while speaking as a guest on Trust Television, said, the president is a master craftsman in political experience unlike some of the leaders and presidential aspirants within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Reeling out some of the challenges facing the coalition party ahead of the 2027 general election, especially for the presidential ticket, Baba-Ahmed said that ADC lacks the cohesion needed for any political party to hold its leaders and members together.

According to Baba-Ahmed, the ADC lacks an individual with the late former president Muhammadu Buhari’s kind of persona.

He also noted that the coalition party is filled with political leaders who would likely not tolerate each other should any of them win the ADC’s presidential ticket.

He said, “They don’t have a Buhari in ADC. Because today, if Atiku wins the ticket, others have a problem with that. If Amechi wins the ticket, others have a problem.

“If Obi wins the ticket, others have a problem with it. That is one. Two, they don’t have a Tinubu. Tinubu is focused, resourced, determined, and of course, he has a lot of sense and experience that he applied to this.

“They don’t have it in APC. Three, in ADC, they don’t have a Jonathan in the game. What do I mean by Jonathan? Jonathan was re-electws was elected in 2011 with the promise to northern elements that he wouldn’t contest in 2015.

“So there was a promise issue, and the North felt it was time to go back to the North. So before I go into other structural misgivings of ADC, which will take much longer,” Baba-Ahmed said.
