
Kwara Fire Service has recovered the lifeless body of an unidentified man from a river at Osin/Laduba axis of Ilorin. The incident was reported by officials of the Kwara State Ministry of Environment on Thursday, February 12, 2026. The spokesperson of the service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, who confirmed the incident in a statement stated that firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene and successfully recovered the body. The body was handed over to officials of the Ministry of Environment for further procedures. On Thursday, 12th February 2026, at about 14:42 hrs, the Kwara State Fire Service received an incident call from staff of the Kwara State Ministry of Environment, reporting that a lifeless body was found in a river along the Osin/Laduba axis, Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State, the statement read. “Firefighters promptly responded to the scene and successfully recovered the body of an unidentified male, estimated to be about 43 years of age. “Following the recovery, the lifeless body was handed over to officials of the Kwara State Ministry of Environment for necessary procedures. “Health workers on site subsequently fumigated the recovered body and the surrounding area to ensure public health and environmental safety. “The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, CFS Alabi Muhammed, urged members of the public to avoid unsafe activities around water bodies and to promptly report any suspicious or emergency situations to relevant authorities to enable timely response. “He also emphasized inter-agency collaboration in safeguarding lives and public safety.
