Gov Alia reacts as nine children abducted from Benue church regain freedom
Nine children abducted from the St. John Catholic Church Ojije in Utonkon, Ado Local Government Area of Benue state have regained their freedom.
It was gathered that the children were rescued following the efforts of security operatives during an operation.
Confirming their rescue, the Benue State governor, Hyacinth Alia commended the swift and prompt action of the security agencies and their personnel.
According to the governor, the operation was carried out in collaboration between key conventional security agencies and local vigilante groups.
Alia assured that the security and safety of all Benue resident remains his administration’s priority.
He also stated that the state will continue to work closely with the Federal Government, relevant agencies including local security outfits to improve the security situation in Benue State.
Recall that some suspected kidnappers had stormed the St. John Catholic Church in Ojije, Utonkon to kidnap some worshippers.
The governor in a high-level security meeting issued a directive for the immediate rescue of the victims.
The meeting took place at the palace of the Och’Idoma in Otukpo on February 13.
