INEC Declares Complete Preparedness for FCT Polls
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it is fully prepared to conduct the February 21 local council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The FCT INEC Administrative Secretary, Abimbola Oladunjoye, made this statement during an interview with Arise Television on Monday.
She stated that all preparations are complete, adding that by Thursday, they would collect the sensitive materials from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and transport them directly to the councils.
She further noted that staff have undergone training, BVAS machines have been configured, and the voter register has been printed.
“So, I tell you that we are very ready for the election come Saturday, 21 February, 2026. We have virtually done everything we need to do for the election.
“Right now, we have received all our non-sensitive materials, everything has been bagged and sent to all Area Councils.
“Towards Thursday, we shall go to the CBN and get our sensitive materials and move them straight to the Area Councils,” she said.
