NSCDC Deploys Security to Churches and Mosques in Kwara amid Rising Insecurity
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has announced a new security arrangement to protect worshippers across Kwara State following growing concerns over insecurity.
The state commandant of the corps, Mr. Bala Bawa Bodinga, disclosed that security personnel will now be stationed at mosques during Friday prayers and at churches during Sunday services.
Speaking in Ilorin, Bodinga explained that the deployment forms part of broader efforts to safeguard lives and property in the state. He said the command has intensified patrols and surveillance operations across all local government areas.
According to him, operatives of the corps are now on round-the-clock duty to check criminal activities and respond swiftly to security threats.
“Since I took over, there has never been a night without troop presence. My operators maintain 24-hour surveillance to safeguard lives and property,” he stated.
“Henceforth, all Friday Jumma’at Mosques and Churches will receive adequate security coverage,” he added.
The commandant stressed the importance of cooperation among security agencies, noting that intelligence sharing remains key to preventing crime in the state.
“I am in active contact with service heads across the state. Together, we share intelligence and strategies, strengthening proactive security measures for the state,” he said.
Bodinga also spoke on the need to modernise the corps through training and improved equipment. He said officers are being exposed to professional and technical training to meet emerging security challenges.
“Our operatives are being technically and professionally trained to meet modern security challenges,” he noted.
Furthermore, the commandant appealed for stronger operational support from the Nigerian Air Force to enhance surveillance and rapid response capabilities. He also commended journalists for helping to promote security awareness through responsible reporting.
