Kinse Submitted A Letter Alleging Sexual Harassment To The VC, Told Him She Has Evidence — Agande

 

 

The management of Veritas Catholic University, Abuja, has denied allegations of sexual harassment leveled against some of its staff by a former employee, Reverend Sister Anastasia Kinse. The institution, owned by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, said the claims were “patently false” and lacked any credible evidence.

Appearing on Prime Time on Arise Television on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the university’s Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications, Mr. Ben Agande, said Sister Kinse never provided any evidence to support her accusations against her Head of Department and several priests.

Agande stated, “To start with, the former sister’s position is riddled with half-truths. Sister Anastasia got into Veritas around 2024, November, five months after she was involved in examination malpractice. She assisted a student to evade, to attempt to evade an examination malpractice.”

Explaining further, he said, “A student was caught, she was given an incident form to fill, and then she told the student to fill a wrong name, that way there would be no way they were going to trace him. And then when the student appeared before the panel, he said that he did what the lecturer did, I told her to do, and then we discovered it was this sister.”

According to him, the former nun admitted her role before the disciplinary committee, stating she acted out of pity for the student. “The committee recommended that she be seriously reprimanded,” Agande revealed.

He added that on July 2, about three months later, Sister Kinse submitted a letter to the Vice Chancellor alleging sexual harassment but initially requested anonymity. “The vice chancellor felt that she cannot be submitting an anonymous petition of that magnitude when she needed to defend her position,” he explained.

Agande concluded, “She told the vice chancellor that she had evidence. So it was an opportunity for her to provide those evidence. Let me let you know that we’ve had situations whereby lecturers have been dismissed because they took, behaving in a way that is unethical according to our standard.”

Veritas University emphasized its “zero tolerance” for sexual harassment and maintained that Sister Kinse’s dismissal was due to her involvement in examination malpractice, not retaliation for any whistleblowing.
