A food delivery driver in upstate New York has been arrested after reporting a customer for indecent exposure, a dramatic reversal that has ignited debate online over safety, privacy and the risks faced by gig-economy workers. Olivia Henderson, 23, says she was delivering an order on October 12 when she arrived to find the customer lying on his couch with his trousers and underwear around his ankles. In a TikTok video posted to her account, she said the man was visible from the doorway and indecently exposed, calling the encounter a form of s3xual assault. The clip went viral, drawing millions of views before it was deleted. But when Henderson contacted police the following day to report what happened, officers arrested her instead. According to authorities, Ring camera footage suggested she let herself into the home while the man was unconscious from alcohol, contradicting her claim that the door was already open. Police said her video showed the customer incapacitated, and noted that she had publicly alleged s3xual assault. DoorDash, the delivery platform she worked for, has since deactivated both her account and the customers, saying the recording and posting of a customer inside their home was a clear violation of company policy. Henderson now faces felony charges of unlawful surveillance and disseminating an unlawful surveillance image, offences that could carry a prison sentence of up to eight years if she is convicted. She has been released on bail and is scheduled to return to court on December 4. In a follow-up post, she said she felt she was being punished as a victim, insisting she acted out of fear and concern for her safety. DoorDash, responding to the controversy, said the company takes all reports of harassment and assault seriously and supports drivers who come forward.
