Goodluck Jonathan safe, out of Guinea-Bissau – FG

The Federal government has confirmed that former President Goodluck Jonathan is safe and has left Guinea-Bissau following the military takeover in the country. Guinea-Bissaus presidential and legislative elections on November 23 were disrupted when a group of military officers announced that they had seized power, declaring the removal of the president and the suspension of the electoral process. Jonathan, who led the West African Elders Forum Election Observation Mission, had been in the country monitoring last Sundays presidential and legislative elections before the military announced it had seized power. There was apprehension amongst Nigerians about the safety of the former president.  In an interview with newsmen in Abuja this afternoon, November 27, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, said Jonathan is safe and has since left Guinea Bissau. Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is very safe and out of Guinea-Bissau.
