Zamfara PDP accuses APC of attempting to discredit Lawal’s economic reforms

Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of attempting to discredit the economic reforms and financial transparency initiatives of Governor Dauda Lawal.
In a statement issued by the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Haliru Andi, on Thursday, the party described the APC’s recent comments as “politically motivated and borne out of frustration.”

According to the PDP, “It is laughable that the same APC government that looted the state dry for eight consecutive years without any trace of accountability is now pretending to care about the welfare of Zamfara people.”

The party said the APC’s criticisms reflect its frustration over the success of Governor Lawal’s ongoing reforms, which it claimed have blocked “previous leakages and corrupt channels” through which public funds were diverted.

Reacting to APC’s allegation that Hajiya Rakkiya Ahmad Dodo “receives N300 million monthly,” the PDP described the claim as false and malicious.

“The current administration has introduced a transparent revenue collection system where every kobo is remitted into the state’s account for the benefit of the people, unlike the previous APC government that operated with cash collections riddled with corruption,” the statement added.
