A Muslim lady has called out some Nigerian content creators over a growing trend she says is dangerous, unfair and damaging to an entire community. According to her, the constant use of Hausa language, hijabs, jalabias, turbans and Islamic imagery in skits to represent bandits or criminals is not content it is profiling, and it has real-life consequences. She warned that many people around the world who do not understand Nigeria may end up believing that every Hausa speaker, every Northerner and every Muslim is tied to crime a stereotype she says is harmful and irresponsible. She added that Northern Nigerians already deal with unfair labels like illiterate or backward, and content creators are now adding salt to their wound by turning an entire culture and religion into a joke. Her message was firm: Criminals have no tribe, no religion, no language bandits and kidnappers are not cultural representatives. They are simply criminals. She urged creators to stop using Hausa and Muslim identities as props for crime-related skits, stressing that it puts innocent people at risk, affects how they are treated abroad and fuels bias in workplaces and everyday life.
