We Killed Ourselves Because Of Peace, What Wike Is Asking Is Suicide -Dr Pearse List Wike’s Demands by Citynobs May 30, 2025, 1:16 am Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, a public affairs analyst and convener of Reset Lagos and PDP National Presidential Campaign Council has described the ongoing internal crisis within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as driven by misinformation and political sabotage, asserting that the party remains undeterred despite attempts to derail its leadership activities. In an interview on TVC News, Dr. Pearse, who also served as a member of the National Presidential Campaign Council in 2023, dismissed reports claiming that the PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting had been postponed. “That was weak-case propaganda,” he stated. “The NEC meeting is on now as we speak.” According to him, despite efforts to seal the PDP’s national secretariat, the meeting was relocated to alternative venues: Legacy House, the PDP Institute, and the Governor’s Mansion. He accused Minister Nyesom Wike of attempting to destabilize the party, claiming, “Wike has been a thorn in the flesh of the PDP… He has said that he will set fire to the PDP and that he is working for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.” Dr. Pearse further outlined three key demands from Wike that the party leadership has rejected. First, the reinstatement of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, a move that has been opposed by the party’s Board of Trustees (BOT), NEC, National Working Committee (NWC), and the Southeast caucus. “All the organs of the PDP have rejected Anyanwu,” said Dr. Pearse. “The constitution is clear. Once he resigned and contested, he must be re-nominated by the Southeast, and they have chosen Udo Okoye instead.” Second, he claimed Wike demanded that the PDP withdraw its legal challenge against the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State. “Why would we agree to withdraw it when that is our collective position?” Pierce asked. He said “We kill ourselves because of peace. What Wike is asking is suicide” and he added that “PDP had to rejected it. That’s all”. Third, Wike allegedly insisted that 24 former PDP state lawmakers who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) be reinstated into the PDP — a request Dr. Pearse firmly rejected. “He wants them reinstated because they are his loyalists,” he said. “We disagree. The PDP is not reinstating them.” In conclusion, Dr. Pearse maintained that the party remains united against what he described as a deliberate attempt to cause internal disruption. “Wike is fighting a lost cause. The PDP leaders say we will not allow you to destabilize us,” he affirmed.
