According to a report by The Sun newspaper, Chief Henry Ajomale, the former chairman of the APC Lagos State and chairman of the Conference of All Progressives Congress States Chairmen, made the comments in response to recent criticism of the party. Ajomale specifically attacked former Federal Government Secretary Babachir Lawal, casting doubt on his ability to be a critic of the current government. “Babachir Lawal, the disgraced former Secretary to the Federal government under Buhari’s administration, is someone that no one will take seriously. Ajomale mentioned the corruption incident that resulted in Lawal’s termination, saying, “This was somebody who was ignominiously sacked by Buhari over the infamous grass-cutting fraud running into millions of naira.”
The former party chairman continued by highlighting the seriousness of such corruption charges in his opinion. “If it were to be in a country like China, he would have been a dead man because, in China, people involved in corruption are usually executed,” he stated. Ajomale spoke well of President Tinubu and the APC leadership, defending them. “APC and its leaders, including President Tinubu, are genuine patriots who are determined to transform Nigeria into a great nation,” he said.
Recent political defections, he said, were proof of the party’s popularity and effectiveness. This explains why so many politicians from other parties—such as the PDP, Labour Party, NNPP, SDP, and ADC—are switching to the APC. “Everyone wants to be a part of a winning team,” Ajomale said. As Nigeria’s political climate continues to change in anticipation of upcoming elections, the remarks coincide with escalating political tensions and condemnation from across political parties.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
