He became the visual representation of the festival’s elegance, flair, and rich cultural heritage while galloping magnificently on horseback and decked up in lavish agbada. Mr. Steeze’s spectacular outfit, which combined emerald and gold Aso-Oke textiles with traditional coral beads and stylish sunglasses, recalled both modern refinement and grandeur.
He arrived as a renowned cultural icon in 2025, continuing to evoke wonder and appreciation, after his viral presence at Ojude Oba in 2024 set the tone. However, Mr. Steeze wasn’t the only brilliant individual. Renowned Regberegbe age-grade groups at the festival were converted into living catwalks, displaying wildly elaborate outfits in layers of damask, Adire, and lace. These ensembles, which were never replicated, were notable examples of Yoruba workmanship and collective identity. In the meantime, in a memorable and dramatic show, the Balogun riders, descended from Ijebu warriors, thundered into the forecourt while their ornately decorated horses fired symbolic gun salutes into the air.
