To witness one of Nigeria’s most well-known exhibitions of fashion and tradition, an unprecedented number of authorities, fashionistas, and visitors flocked to the Awujale’s palace for this year’s festival.
The emphasis was obviously on the Regberegbe, or age-grade divisions. They made a live runway of well-coordinated beauty out of the forecourt. Women wore magnificent Aso-Oke and Adire outfits, adorned with sun-catching gems and gorgeous gele knots. In order to emphasise their royal status and identity, the men also wore coral beads, fila hats, and intricately embroidered agbadas. Each group transformed cultural expression into wearable art by showcasing their fashion subject in a distinctive way. Another highlight of the day was the magnificent entry made by the Baloguns. They represented a singular fusion of custom and spectacle, arriving on ornately attired horses.
Wearing layered damasks, velvet tunics, and elaborate caps, these descendants of Ijebu military generals showcased both their riding prowess and sense of style. Their customary salutes to the Awujale demonstrated the celebration’s cultural origins while also enhancing the event’s beauty and history. Ojude Oba 2025 was a dramatic declaration of fashion brilliance and modern elegance with a traditional foundation, in addition to being a cultural celebration. The festival has developed into a big event that promotes travel, traditional dress, and Ijebuland’s artistic essence to the globe thanks to the support of Globacom and other important sponsors.
