Local government chairmen on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta North have denied the endorsement of the senator representing the district, Ned Nwoko, for a second term.
Naija News reports that the seven chairmen across Delta north LGAs, which include Nobert Akachukwu Sochukwudinma (Aniocha south), Hilary Fada Ibude (Ika south), Austin Nnabuife (Oshimili north), Dada Okolo (Oshimili south), Oputa Knis (Ndokwa east), Dike Onah (Ndokwa west), and Churchill Edem (Ukwuani), made their decision in a joint statement issued on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
While reaffirming their collective support for President Bola Tinubu and Delta State governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for a second term in office, the chairmen said they were not involved in Nwoko’s endorsement and urged party members and the public to disregard it.
The chairmen said the party must remain focused and disciplined as it prepares for the 2027 elections.
They also called on the state deputy governor, Monday Onyeme, to take up a leadership role in guiding the party ahead of the next general election, adding that the APC in Delta North remains credible and committed to securing victory for the party in 2027.
The statement reads, “We were not involved in the purported endorsement of Senator Ned Nwoko for second term, whether by some ward chairmen or during the Delta North APC stakeholders meeting.
“Such actions do not reflect the position of the APC structures at the local government level and must be disregarded.
“As a party guided by internal democracy and due process, anyone interested in contesting for senatorial, house of representatives or assembly positions must work to build the party and prepare for free, fair and credible primaries.
“We humbly and respectfully urge him to kindly take up the role in unifying and guiding the party going forward.”
