
The Niger State Police Command has arrested a suspected robber for attempted m8rder of a commercial motorcyclist. The spokesperson of the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 said the suspect identified as Mohammed Adamu and his accomplice, posed as passengers and hired the motorcyclist to convey them to a particular destination. However, on getting to a point, they told the motorcyclist to divert to a lonely road. One of the suspects attacked the victim with an iron and they carted away his bike. On December 21, 2025 at about 9.45pm, a report received at Maje Div indicated that a commercial motorcyclist within Maje, conveyed two passengers from Auwal Ibrahim modern market to Maje, and while on their way heading to Maje, the passengers requested the rider to divert to a lonely road, indicating that they would prefer to stop at a point along the road, the statement read. “On getting to a point, they stopped and attempted to pay the rider. In the course of this, one of the passengers used an iron to hit the rider on the head, and went away with the Bajaj motorcycle. “On the receipt of this information, the Police operatives of the Div on stop and search at Maje nipping point were alerted and within a short period of time, one of the suspects who was later identified as Mohammed Adamu 28yrs, was accosted with the said unregistered Bajaj motorcycle. “The suspect confessed to the crime, and mentioned his accomplice as Ahmed of Deidei presently at large. He claimed that Ahmed recruited him from Bauchi for this act and this is his first time. The motorcycle was recovered, effort to arrest the said Ahmed is in progress, while the victim is responding to treatment in a medical facility.
