Ulsan HD have been eliminated from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup following a dramatic 4-2 defeat to Brazilian giants Fluminense in their second group stage match.
The K League 1 champions went into the game needing a win to keep their qualification hopes alive, having already lost their opening Club World Cup fixture to South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.
Despite holding a 2-1 lead at one point in the match, Ulsan were undone by a flurry of late goals from Fluminense.
Um Won-sang had a golden opportunity to extend their lead to 3-1, but his miss proved costly as the Brazilian side mounted a late comeback to seal victory and send the Horangi packing.
Meanwhile, Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds also bowed out of the tournament after a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Inter Milan.
The J1 League outfit held a 1-0 lead deep into the second half but succumbed to a late rally from the Italian giants, with goals from Lautaro Martinez and Valentin Carboni securing the comeback win.
Other teams already eliminated from the expanded tournament include Auckland City FC, Los Angeles FC, and Seattle Sounders.
