FRSC blames ‘excessive speed’, ‘wrongful overtaking’ for motor crash involving Anthony Joshua

The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed that the tragic accident involving the convoy of renowned British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua claimed the lives of two people on the Makun axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The Ogun Sector Command confirmed that the accident happened at Sinoma, near Sagamu, involving two vehicles. In a press release, FRSC PRO in Ogun State, Afolabi Odunsi, blamed the crash on overspeeding and wrongful overtaking by the driver, who overtook from the right-hand side and rammed into a stationary vehicle. The accident occurred when the Lexus SUV conveying Joshua, with registration number KRD 850 HN, collided with a stationary truck along the road on Monday, December 29. In the accident involving five persons, Anthony Joshua sustained injuries, while two fatalities were recorded, and two others were rescued unharmed. Anthony Joshua, who was in one of the vehicles, was taken to an undisclosed hospital by his security team. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the morgue.  The statement read: An Auto crash occured today 29h December 2025 involving two vehicles along Lagos-Ibadan expressway at SINOMA.Sagamu unit of FRSC rescue team were at the scene as soon as they were informed. Five people were involved, one was injured, two were unhurt while two were killed in the crash. The cause of the crash was due to over-speeding and wrongful overtaking by the drive who overtook from the right hand side thereby ramming into a stationary vehicle. Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer of Ogun State, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, has assured members of the public that a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident has commenced. Babaseyi noted that Joshua, who was seated in the rear of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and was receiving medical attention. He expressed the Commands heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased.The post FRSC blames ‘excessive speed’, ‘wrongful overtaking’ for motor crash involving Anthony Joshua appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
