In a Sunday, June 8, 2025, interview with Channels Television, Ndume voiced disappointment over what he perceives as a lack of consideration for devoted party members who have stuck with the APC during tough times. After losing an election that he believed he had won, my esteemed colleague Omo-Agege in Delta fought in court and then continued to lead the party. The current governor was then abruptly brought in and declared to be the new leader. What did that man do? Ndume asked.
The treatment of seasoned party members who have contributed their political capital to bolstering the party’s presence in opposition strongholds is highlighted by Ndume’s remarks. The APC’s 2023 candidate for governor of Delta, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, a former deputy senator, was regarded as the party’s spokesperson in the state. Following a close and contentious defeat in the 2023 elections, Omo-Agege appealed the result in court and carried on leading the party’s local activities.
But on April 23, 2025, Governor Oborevwori and a number of Delta State PDP leaders defected to the APC, seemingly turning the political tide. Festus Keyamo, a well-known APC member from Delta and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, welcomed Oborevwori into the party and proclaimed him the state’s new APC leader.
